Spring is here and our patio awaits! As we gear up for summer we’re excited to announce our Anniversary Patio Party and a collaboration series of beer releases. And that’s not all — we’ve got a new Head Brewer, a fundraising milestone with Protect Our Winters Canada and some tasty updates from the kitchen and taproom!
CELEBRATING 7 YEARS IN SQUAMISH!
Save the date for our epic 7th Anniversary Patio Party, happening June 7th to 9th! We’re thrilled to unveil special brews crafted in collaboration with our favorite breweries just for this occasion – look for an old school IPA with Superflux, a locally hopped Kolsch with Barnside Brewing, and a zesty pineapple & basil sour with Fieldhouse Brewing. Get ready to rock all weekend long with a stellar lineup of DJs including Vinyl Ritchie, Foxy Moron, Kelso, Hebegebe, and DJ Surgeon. We’re extending our hours on Friday & Saturday topped off with an exclusive all 45’s vinyl session on Sunday. This is THE summer party you can’t afford to miss!
WELCOME PETER!
This is Peter, our new Head Brewer. Peter spent his last 7 years brewing for Howe Sound and we’re thrilled for the immense knowledge and passion for beer he brings. When we asked him what he loves about beer this is how he explained it: “I’m drawn to the subtle intricacies in beer, whether it be layering the roasted and crystal malts in a stout, balancing different punchy new world hops in an IPA, or the delicate interplay between ingredients in a lager, or Saison.”
Peter is already putting in hard work revamping and creating new recipes, with his first to hit the taps being “Never Taken A Shortcut Before?” Session Stout.
As a film school graduate, and a bit of an encyclopedia of classic movie references, we can’t think of anyone more fitting to lead our killer brew team!
PROTECT OUR WINTERS FUNDRAISER
We’ve hit the halfway point in our fundraising campaign and collaboration with Protect Our Winters Canada with a contribution of $10,000 towards our goal of exceeding $20,000 by next year! Protect Our Winters is a non-profit organization committed to finding policy solutions to fight climate change. Along with the help of industry partners, YOU have helped us raise this donation through purchases of Protect Our Winters Pale Ale, POW x Backcountry T-Shirts, label stickers and donations. The POW Pale Ale will be back in December 2024, but you can still support the cause with the purchase of a collaboration T-Shirt here, 100% of sales from these ethically produced shirts from Econic Apparel will be donated to POW!
TASTY UPDATES FROM THE TAPROOM
We kicked off spring with the annual opening of the patio in May and with the 2022 addition of the Barrel Room we are pleased to have little to no wait times, even on weekends! In food news, our kitchen’s been busy coming up with spring inspired pizzas, salads, snacks, sandwiches, and wing flavors! Equipped with a new pizza oven, a refined dough recipe with all organic Canadian flour, and an amazing kitchen team led by Head Chef Jules LaPorte and Sous Chef Ross Sink, our team took home 2nd place for the People’s Choice award in the Vancouver Foodster Pizza Challenge!
